During TVA’s Ramadan Qiyam tonight, Shaykha Dr. Tamara Gray during her talk, shared a story about the prophet ﷺ (peace and blessings be upon him). And I paraphrase:

“The companions found Rasul ﷺ crying and asked about what was causing him to cry. And he ﷺ replies saying I long for my siblings, I wish I could meet them. The companions respond: O messenger of Allah we are here with you. Are we not your siblings? He says: you are my companions but my siblings are those who are to come who will love me and follow my way though they never met or saw me.” [Musnad Ahmad 12169]

SubhanAllah. I was so moved and my eyes filled with tears. Rasul longed for us and called us his siblings. And I asked myself what am I doing to be worthy of being the sibling of Rasul ﷺ. Could I confidently say that I love Rasul ﷺ and if so do my actions reflect it?

Ya Allah grant me your love, the love of your messenger, the love of those who love You and him, and the love of deeds that earn Your love. Amin ya Rabb.

“And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger will be in the company of those blessed by Allah: the prophets, the people of truth, the martyrs, and the righteous—what honourable company!” [4:69].

Ya Rahman, Ya Hadi make me among them. Allahumma Amin.
